AI for Education

A community to ensure equitable access and benefits from AI in Education

Our vision is to ensure equitable access to AI’s potential to improve learning, making it accessible to all children and teachers, irrespective of their socio-economic status.

We are collaborating to guide the development of AI educational tools in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

This is a space where educational technology, AI insights, and developmental experiences are shared. We believe it is better to build together rather than separately.

About how AI works, how to write effective prompts, how to integrate your content into large language models (LLMs) and more.

Evidence Library

Our evidence library brings together academic research, books and reports into Generative AI use in educational contexts (up to age 18) from 2020 onwards. The catalogue is regularly updated and focuses on evidence of how AI tools impact on educational outcomes, including student learning, teacher/student behaviour and improving processes, such as feedback generation. Specific efforts are made to include research conducted in or about AI use in LMICs.

Explore the Ideas for How AI Can Help With Education

AI has the potential to transform approaches in education and through the Education System Diagram we highlight where and how AI technology may make a difference.

We want to hear from you on what you think are the most promising ideas for AI in Education – and we aim to prioritise development of the solutions that have the most potential. We’d love you to make your voice heard too.

About AI-for-Education.org

Our objective is to guarantee the provision of top-tier AI resources for those with limited financial resources, ensuring these tools are bespoke to their needs. We are cautiously optimistic about AI’s transformative potential in education – and we acknowledge the complexities in implementing effective solutions – but are excited about the potential.

While we have only just started, this platform is already becoming a repository of knowledge on AI in education, offering effective strategies, practical advice, and highlighting potential pitfalls. This concrete guidance is rooted in real-world applications and we are already providing open-source code to turn innovative ideas into tangible solutions.

Learning By Doing

We are providing small grants to support the development of AI products & components in LMICs. We know that innovation investment is high-risk. Our aim is that our community can benefit from the lessons learned in these pilots – what works and what doesn’t.

Learn more about our pilot projects here. We will be following each project and reporting on key learnings.
